'Swan Lake'
Sat., Jan. 31, 7 p.m. 'Swan Lake' Dance: The State Ballet Theatre of Russia presents this beloved Russian folktale, in which a young princess is transformed into an elegant bird. Recommended for ages 7 and up.
Winter Trails Day
Sat., Feb. 7, 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Winter Trails Day Health & Fitness: The Green Mountain Club hosts a day of winter hikes, indoor and outdoor kids' activities, live music and more. All ages.
'Kids VT' Camp & School Fair
Sat., Feb. 7, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. 'Kids VT' Camp & School Fair Fairs & Festivals: Parents and campers-to-be get personal attention and detailed information as representatives from dozens of camps and schools from Vermont and beyond present their programs. All ages.
Dance Showcase
Sat., Feb. 7, 7 p.m. Dance Showcase Dance: A bevy of graceful groups — including Spielpalast Cabaret, Jeh Kulu Jr. and Bryce Dance Company — strut their stuff in a benefit performance.
Sleigh Ride Week
Feb. 14-22, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sleigh Ride Week Community: Winter lovers are pulled by horses through frozen farm fields and try out a jack jumper sled, a single ski with a seat mounted on top. All ages.
The Great Backyard Bird Count Open House
Sat., Feb. 14, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The Great Backyard Bird Count Open House Nature & Science: Ornithologists-in-training visit the museum's feeding station, explore exhibits and learn more about the bird count, an annual four-day event. All ages.
Igloo Build
Sat., Feb. 14, 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Igloo Build Nature & Science: Bundled-up families learn to construct insulated, sturdy snow dwellings during this long-running Montshire tradition. All ages.
'Schoolhouse Rock Live!'
Sun., Feb. 15, 2 p.m. 'Schoolhouse Rock Live!' Theater: The pop culture phenomenon returns in this family- and autism-friendly version of the Emmy-winning '70s Saturday morning series.
'Fiddler on the Roof'
Thu., Feb. 5, 7:30 p.m., Fri., Feb. 6, 7:30 p.m., Sat., Feb. 7, 7:30 p.m., Sun., Feb. 8, 5 p.m., Fri., Feb. 13, 7:30 p.m., Sat., Feb. 14, 7:30 p.m. and Sun., Feb. 15, 5 p.m. 'Fiddler on the Roof' Theater: In a fictional Jewish village in Russia, Tevye struggles to instill old-world traditions in his five daughters.
Vermont Flower Show
Fri., Feb. 27, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Sat., Feb. 28, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sun., March 1, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Vermont Flower Show Community: Fascinating displays of flora with a "Spring Reflections" theme wow green-thumbed visitors, while a family room provides hands-on activities and entertainment.
Vermont Ice Castles
Through March 7 Vermont Ice Castles Ongoing Exhibits: Frozen archways, tunnels, canyons, ice slides and glacial waterfalls create a Narnia-like display for families to explore. Through March 7 (weather permitting).
Farmers, Warriors, Builders: The Hidden Life of Ants
Through April 5, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Farmers, Warriors, Builders: The Hidden Life of Ants Ongoing Exhibits: This Smithsonian Institution traveling exhibit explores how the little insects obtain and distribute resources, maintain civil unity and defend against outsiders. Through April 5.
Vermont Symphony Orchestra Masterworks Series
Sat., March 14, 8 p.m. and Sat., May 2, 8 p.m. Vermont Symphony Orchestra Masterworks Series Music: Skillful instrumentalists make compositions soar. Free interactive discussion with the conductors and guest artists, 7 p.m.
