Stroll the streets downtown Morrisville and you’ll discover why Morrisville has such an unmistakable sense of place, making it one of the hidden jewels among Vermont’s downtowns.

From mill town to railroad town to market town, Morrisville's architecture hints at the town's history. In a style more characteristic of 19th century railroad towns in the West, commercial buildings have second-story false fronts that disguise their pitched or angled roofs. The residential village is punctuated by extravagant Victorian-era architecture and the old Boston & Maine rail terminal shows off its Italianate architecture.

Running through the heart of the downtown is the newly constructed Lamoille Valley Rail Trail. This former rail bed sees use by snowmobilers, skiers and cyclists, and connects to broad valleys crisscrossed by the Lamoille River and its tributaries. All this makes for great cycling, mountain biking, running and kayaking. In the fall, there's great foliage and hiking on he hundreds of miles of Town trails, and in winter snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling on the Town’s expansive network of VAST trails.
Summer or winter, Morrisville provides convenient and inexpensive accommodations that attracts skiers and riders enjoying Stowe Mountain Resort and at Smuggler’s Notch located nearby.

Whether travel or recreation takes you to Morrisville, be sure to visit to one of the village’s unique and outstanding restaurants. Some say the best lunch choice is Thompson’s Flour Shop, a functioning bakery with that serves handmade lunch sandwiches on fresh bread and other bakery goods. For dinner, the Bees Knees serves the perfect mix of comfort foods and vegetarian fare, along with live music and an art gallery. For after dinner entertainment, there’s the Bijou Movie Theater or Moog’s Place for more live music and a to-die-for beer list.

Morrisville has so much to offer that it’s impossible to do it all in a day. Whether you spend a few hours at the River Arts art gallery taking in the newest exhibit or an art class, or partake in outdoor recreation in a beautiful and unspoiled mountain setting, you'll not be disappointed. Morrisville is more Vermont, more for your dollar and more for the entire family.
