Vermont Foliage Report - Looking Ahead

MONTPELIER, Vt. – Vermont tourism officials are confident that another great foliage season is on the horizon and are encouraging visitors to take advantage of midweek fall specials being offered throughout the state.

“The damp summer provided ample moisture for trees throughout Vermont.  As the drying trend we are in now transitions into our usual fall weather – warm days and crisp nights – we expect Vermont's foliage to display excellent autumn color,” says Ginger Anderson, Chief of Forest Management for the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation. “We can look forward to another brilliant fall foliage season.”

More than 70 businesses, including inns, restaurants, shops and ski resorts, are offering a variety of midweek specials during the fall foliage season as part of a new statewide “Midweek Peek” promotion organized by the Vermont Department of Tourism & Marketing. Deals range from discounted lodging to complimentary bike rentals to free Vermont products. For details, visit our Midweek Peek Specials section .

“Even though the fall foliage season is our most intense travel season, visitors will find a diverse range of opportunities available for lodging, dining and activities – especially during midweek,” says Vermont Tourism & Marketing Commissioner Bruce Hyde. “Fall in Vermont is great any day of the week, but we hope people will take advantage of the incredible ‘Midweek Peek’ deals being offered this season.”

During fall foliage, Vermont’s magnificent countryside shimmers in red, orange, green and gold, drawing millions of visitors here from all corners of the globe. Vermont forestry experts agree with the prediction that a beautiful foliage season is on the way.

Weekly foliage reports will begin on September 20 and will be available on this website and also the state’s toll-free visitor information line 1-800-VERMONT. As the season progresses, the reports will be updated twice weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
