Vermont is Very Much Open

Vermont’s Sweetest Treat

As the midwinter snow starts to melt and temperatures rise, Vermonters start preparing for their very own gold rush. No, not the golden ales and lagers that can be found in breweries and taprooms throughout the state; Vermonters are focused on what they call liquid gold – maple syrup.

First discovered by Native Americans, maple sugaring in Vermont is an agricultural tradition. What started as a simple process with buckets hung from taps on trees has become more efficient over time with advanced technology. Vermont is currently the top maple syrup producer in the country, producing 2.2 million gallons in 2020.
